First I blamed Bowie, but now I blame Apple for removing my shuffle toggle in iTunes.

itunesI don’t care what you say, iTunes’ shuffle isn’t even remotely random. I know what you’re going to say, “iTunes has a nice slider to fake it’s randomness.” Well guess what, it’s still a lie. A BIG FAT LIE. Guess what else, that option is GONE. Presto-buh-bye. I’m not sure when it happened, but some time in the last batch of updates it’s disappeared. It’s either gone permanently, or buried somewhere that I can’t find.

I loved me some Bowie up until a month ago. I went through stages in my life where a little more Bowie could be handled, but my iTunes had a man crush on him. He’d come up more often than anything else in my playlist. Sure, it’s probably all in my head, but the fact remains, out of 30gb of music 5 bowie albums ruled the roost. Apple once gave us the ability to do a real random shuffle, or to do a fake random shuffle, where the computer would make the shuffle seem more random by human standards. You know, by not allowing Bowie to play 5 times in a row.

Anyway, now that the option is gone iTunes’s man crush returned in full force over the last bit, and you know how I got over it? I deleted Bowie. Gone! Eat that.

I feel a little bad now, axing Bowie, when it seems like Apple was the one who forced him to come up more often by removing my ability to toggle between a real shuffle and a fake shuffle.
