Hey guys, thanks for the review. Just thought I’d give you the reasoning behind us charging in Euros though, seeing as you had a bit of a mini rant about it ;)
First off, M Cubed is based in the UK. I used to charge for my software in US$, but the exchange rate between the $ and the £ was fluctuating too much that over the course of the year we could sell the same number of licences but the amount we would actually have to pay the bills could fluctuate by a few £100 between the highest and lowest exchange rates. So at the time I switched to the euro as it was more stable against the £ (not quite as true now, but still more stable than the $ against the £).
As for displaying the value, well the issue is that I want to keep a standard price around the world, so the base price is €20. I could display the US$ price to Americans for example, but that would change from day to day and be something like $29.78 (the price based on todays rate). The other side of the argument is that of all the companies that charge in dollars, none do the localisation of currency either (though the rest of the world is more accustomed to doing currency conversion in their head).
What I do do though, is when you checkout from our store, I display the approximate value in 5 other currencies (US$, £, ¥, AU$, Can$). So when it comes to finally purchasing you can get an idea of the cost.
Anyway, hope that helps you guys understand why some of us charge in euros rather than dollars. ;) Thanks again for the review.
