I’m downloading Rolando 2 right now, and you should too!
I really enjoyed the first one and the ‘secret’ levels which Ngmoco put out in an update for us while they we’re developing the new version. It’s one of the best and fun games I’ve played on my iPhone so far.

rollin

plusIn this new version, the environment has been changed from a standard looking platformer to a 2.5D system (as you can see in the screenshots above), there are lots of new characters, weapons and vehicles and of course, lots more puzzles to roll, tap and swipe your way through 46 new levels.

Ngmoco has taken advantage of the OS 3.0 with this new version as well, and have introduced Plus+, which enables you to keep a buddy list of people to play against and push notifications for games.

Welcome to the next step in iPhone gaming. Plus+ connects you to a vast community of iPhone gamers across a growing array of iPhone and iPod touch games. have a completionist streak? play to unlock every game award. want to take on the world? vie for a spot on our global leaderboards. feel like starting something? send direct challenges to your friends and step up the competition.

Here is a preview in which developer Simon Oliver shows off some new features including new ways to get revenge on enemies and new traps that await in Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid!

We’re on the radio!

cbcWe’re taking our first steps into the world of Mainstream Media today. At approximately 4:40 PM EST, I’ll be on the radio talking about the opening of a new Apple store here in Ottawa, Ontario, and what the opening means to consumers. Should be a great time. We’re hoping it turns into the first of many appearances in mainstream media for us. It’s pretty exciting times here at Macgasm.

If you guys have interest in listening to the show you can catch it online over at the All in A Day‘s website.  Once there you can click on the listen live button on the right sidebar!

All In A Day is Ottawa’s number one afternoon drive program, not surprising considering that CBC Radio One 91.5 is Ottawa’s number one radio station. More people listen to CBC Radio than to any other station in town.

I’ll try to snag some pics, and possibly grab some video while I’m there. Keep an eye on our flickr group.

I am a heavy user of Flying Meat’s VoodooPad software. It is the premiere local wiki solution for Mac OS X, so it has many uses for me. I keep just about everything in this app. Tucked away in nooks and crannies are a couple of useful features that might not be particularly obvious, so here are some quick walkthroughs to enlighten casual users.

Apple Outperforms PCs, Says Analyst

July 2, 2009

Apple still has its magic! According to NPD and Morgan Stanley, Mac shipments grew 25 percent, which is astounding when the market growth is only one percent. The research firms said that these levels haven’t been reached since October, when recession started lowering Apple’s sells.

Morgan Stanley analyst Kathryn Huberty issued a report this week on Apple’s performance.  “Even before the new MacBook Pros launched,” she writes, “Apple began to outperform the broader commercial PC segment “” with commercial Mac shipments up 25% [month over month] in May versus market growth of just 1%.”

Two reasons for Apple’s remarkable growth is cheaper Macbooks and a back-to-school promotion that offers students a free iPod touch with every Macbook purchase.  This was a good strategy because Apple was able to compete with the cheaper PCs and Netbooks being offered.

Reminder: Only Days Left to register your iPhone 3G for Apple Care.

July 1, 2009

On this, the second anniversary of me owning an iPhone, I was reminded that my original limited edition 4GB iPhone’s Apple Care that I got last year is now expired. Therefore, if anything goes wrong with it, I may be trying to repair it myself. This procedure is not a problem with my iPod Video (5.5 Generation) or even an iPod Mini. However, from the screenshots on the iFixit Website, it seems like it’s a huge task to change the battery in the iPhones. :/

With expiring Apple Care, I thought I would remind those of you early adopters who just had to purchase an iPhone 3G on the first weekend you have about 11 days left to order, purchase and register Apple Care for your iPhone 3G. Apple Care for your iPhone 3G will provide an additional year of support; both hardware and software. It also includes replacement of your battery should the battery life on your iPhone 3G begin to fail.

I have already gotten and registered my Apple Care for my iPhone 3G, I may never need it, but I choose to be safe rather than sorry. So hurry up and spend that $69 to order your Apple Care and get the extra year of warranty, before it is too late.
