What does the symbol that looks like an old blue telephone in the top right corner of the screen mean? I’ve had it for the past month but it hasn’t effected me. I just want to know what it means and how to turn it off.

i had a little phone symbol next to the battery which on home screen was black but turned red in others and after searching the net for hours couldn’t find any solution to get rid of it. then i started checking all my applications and found out that its just a missed call notification symbol from iblacklist. thats for all the numbers that called you but you have them blocked on iblacklist. as soon as you check the history in the app it should disappear. :D

Good questions. It was recently added to iOS 4, and it’s an indicator for your GPS chip. If your phone is currently using location aware applications the phone will let you know. It’s an excellent way to know if an app (like Gowalla, FourSquare, and Google Maps) is tracking your movement.

regarding the battery charge icon, sometimes the lightning bolt changes to what looks like a plug of some sort. Amy idea what this means?

forgot the “notification” icon—a tringle with an exclamation mark. kind of reminds me of a hazard sign but it is clearly not hazardous ;)
