I've 'heard' ;) such things about the scrubbing and I'm definitely thinking it needs to be tweaked, otherwise Apple will be getting more complaints about the high-speed scrubbing. Once you start your music, just go into the clock app, then to the timer. Now select "When Timer ends..." and just scroll all the way to the top and you'll see a selection for "Sleep iPod." Now for scrubbing, iPhone OS 3.0 has much better scrubbing support than the previous versions (I'm using 3.0b5), BUT it will take some getting used to, as it's not as seemless as the scroll wheel on older, traditional iPods.
