Mac News

Apple does more then desktop machines, and any loyal Mac fanboy has probably spent quite a bit of time trying to justify to themselves why they need an Xserve for the home network.  I won’t tell you that you “don’t” need one, but I’m about to make things a little bit more difficult for you.

Apple updated there Xserve line today.  The two baseline options are as follows:

Quad-Core

  • One 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor
  • 3GB memory
  • 160GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA drive module
  • Mac OS X Server v10.5 Unlimited-Client Edition
  • $2999.00

8-Core

  • Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processors
  • 3GB memory
  • 160GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA drive moduleMac OS X Server v10.5 Unlimited-Client Edition
  • $3599.00

Just like the rest of the Apple line up these days, they’re playing up the “Green” label, and state that these have “More Power. Less Energy”

About Joshua Schnell

It started as a hobby and turned into a full-time job for Josh. One minute he was keeping notes on his switch to the Mac and the next thing he knew he was the full time Editor-In-Chief for Macgasm. He spent his early years designing and developing Web sites, but now it's all writing, all the time. Josh also currently contributes to PCWorld. He produces two podcasts, The Macgasm Podcast, and The AppOrchard, and can be heard on CBC Radio once every couple of years, despite secretly wishing that was a more frequent gig.
