mobile me isn't really aimed at high end users who run mac os x server... like you note in your summary. it's by far the easiest ad free 'package' around for syncing phone/computer/online storage and it's all typical lovely apple interfacing, ticking boxes and pushing buttons and hey presto you're done.

i haven't had the same issues with idisk you seem to have had, although the dashboard items won't sync for me which is annoying.

the MAIN benefit of mobile me (from apple's perspective, at least this is how they 'one sentence summarise' to newcomers) is: contacts, calendar, and photos syncing with such ridiculous ease. you don't really seem to be using contact syncing or photo syncing much, which strikes me as marginalising you as an iphone owner but hey you probably have more friends than me so i won't judge! anyway there isn't any other product which does this so well, and the online interface really is quite cohesive.

i'd agree that it seems like they have a bit further to go before it's perfected, and in the meantime they seem to be throwing out free months to everyone to make up for it.

cheers for the review i enjoyed reading it!

I tend to agree. I always find my self considering picking it up, but realize I can do most of that stuff on my own without having to pay that yearly fee. :(

I have been a .mac and now mobile me user for several years. I have to say every year when I renew my membership I really feel I am getting a poor value. And the new Mobile Me features didn't convince me otherwise.
