For my PhD project I am developing a system for the expression of bioproducts in soybean seed coats. This would be things like industrial enzymes that can be used in pulp and paper mills. One part of my project involves looking at whether or not putting these bioproducts into a specific cell compartment can improve the system. In order to do this, I had to confirm that I could send the items to the compartment I intended them to go to. I did this using green fluorescent protein, and used confocal microscopy to find its location in the cell.
