In Firefox:
Go to Firefox Menu -&gt; Preferences 
Then, in the main tab, click the &quot;Check now&quot; button at the very bottom.  If Firefox isn&#039;t the current default browser, you&#039;ll be prompted to make it so.

In times gone by in OSX, you could also use the internet preferences pane in System Pref&#039;s, but that&#039;s gone now.</description>
