Adv. Tips, Mac News, Quick Tips, Ranting

    By: Andrew Case

Hmmmm… It seems to me that many Apple users do NOT know many different secrets about Apple! I, as a Mac user for less than a year, actually do!

Maybe I am crazy. Maybe I am just not seasoned as a Mac user. I have no idea. But from what I see these are just a few o the mentalities and thought processes going on in the typical Apple users mind. And yes, I own a Mac and love it much more than any Windows computer I have ever used.

1. Stephen P. Jobs is NOT God. (I know, it is truly amazing to me too. He did have family of direct relation though! Great right!?)

2. sjobs@apple.com is NOT Steves E-Mail address. Don’t bother thinking it is him and E-Mailing it just to ask.

3.Apple does not care about it’s customers. (Your customer service rep may, but they don’t. They care about their shiny new Ferraris in the parking lot and the stockholders.

4.You are not “special” for owning a Mac. Get over it.

5. You do not need to throw a party for your MacBook’s birthday.

6. Steve Jobs is not friendly to anyone but the people who can make his life Hell.

7. Putting you iPod in debug mode does NOT mean you are teh u|33r 1337 h4×0r of iPods. It means you can read.

8. People who cannot get their Mac to work should not be condemned to Hell. (Just Apple customer service which is quite close lately.)

9. Not everyone can afford or wants the newest shiny Mac.

10. Not every single new patent means that there is a new Mac/ other random device is to be expected. CHILL!

That's it, go ahead and take all the fun out of being one of God's chosen ones.

Here are some secrets for you.

    1. Mac-users do not think Jobs is god. They do however think he is extraordinary businessman on par with other legendary/visionary industrialists such as Thomas Edison, Howard Hugh, etc. Quite an amazing man, really.

    2. stevejobs@apple.com gets results. I have emailed this address 3 times in the past 3 years and gotten a response twice. Once directly from Jobs. The other time I was just recently when I complained about the trashed out condition of a Mac display at Best Buy. The only contact I made was to this address and the next day, I was contacted by both the regional manager at Best Buy and the Apple head in charge of the Best Buy initiative. They were very apologetic and seemed to be shaken by someone above them.

    3. Apple does care very much about their customers as evidenced by several satisfaction ratings for both products and service. Their record is not perfect, but it is a huge company.

    4. You will find people think they are special for knowing Windows minutia as well as owning a Mac. But those are just individuals. But do not blanket the entire userbase with this affliction just because they have enthusiasm for the product.

    5. Wha?

    6. Conjecture on your part. Do you know him personally?

    7. Meaningless.

    8. See #3.

    9. True. So what.

    10. True again. Columnists are always trying find things out because Apple is so secretive. It is annoying but entertaining.

Mac enthusiasts are always branded as crazed zealots but I think for the most part they are merely enthusiastic. Certainly less bad and annoying than the haters. So back at you on the CHILL.

This post made me LOL. I don't think Mac users come out thinking they are special but the "exotic" appeal of non-Mac users towards a Mac computer can make one feel pretty special. Also, I have met a lot of people in my office who outright hate Macs (for no reason) so it can make you feel like an outcast and you know how outcasts love to create their own outcast group! :)

Btw, Apple Support has been really spotty lately.

Is the author of this blog thirteen years old? Geeze. What some people will do for a hit on their website.

Hey Andrew! Come up from the basement. Your mommy has cookies for you.

And I thought that there might actually be something useful here, when I saw the link referenced elsewhere. It goes to show you how popular Apple is getting to be -- that all the muckrakers and nay-sayings and inane (and insane) commentators just put the word "Apple" in an article just to get hits.

I'm going to have to be more discriminating in regards to the riff-raff who try to pose as something having "quality" simply by stating the word "Apple"....

I know Apple and you ain't no Apple... LOL...

"...does not care about it’s customers.."
    Should be:
...does not care about its customers...".

The possessive form of "it" is "its", not "it's".

@patrick thanks for your concern. we've picked up two editors this week, so hopefully these things will be rectified in the future.

    Thanks.

Just basic grammar. Should not need an editor for that.

@Don, thanks for the vote of confidence, but it has happened in a lot of other posts, so I thought it would be in our best interest to have a second set of eyes looking over everyone's work. Moving forward, I think it's better this way.

Here is apple support for you...

I am writing you in hope to get a resolution to this ongoing problem. I have a case open since beginning of 2006 when I first installed 10.4 server. I work for a school in San Diego and we bought multiple copies of 10.4 server. The problem is that the print quotas advertise in 10.4 won't work at all and they are also advertise in 10.5 server and guess what they don't work in 10.5 server either. I'll keep it short one last thing you are selling a product that does not work as advertise, I am surprise that a class action law suit has not been started on this. I hope to have a resolution soon we have lost money by purchasing your product why? It's does not work so we gave you money and got nothing back second since your tech support has done nothing about it we have lost money from all the toner and paper wasted.

Do you remember the name of the AppleCare Rep. you talked to?
