Adium and multiple chat accounts

Wayne Dixon | Thu, Dec 20, 2007

Have you ever had somebody who has AIM, Gtalk, ICQ, Hotmail and who knows what else and you’re using Adium?  Now, you have that one person with all of those accounts so, of course, they all show up as separate entities in the list.  Have you ever wanted to combine all of them?  Well, there’s an easy way.  All you need is Address Book.app.  If you add the person as a contact, then add all of their different chat accounts, that person only shows up as a single entity.  It’ll IM them using whatever they have.  Just a quick tip.. ask Josh if it’s already come in handy…

Or just drag and drop one contact on top of another in your contact list.

    See http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/CombiningContacts for details :)

I tried that, but for some reason it wouldn’t work, now it just could’ve been me, but I couldn’t get it to work like that. It kept flip-flopping groups every two seconds or so…
